ART MANHOLES REVEAL THE WIRED-UP CITY

An
open-air exhibition of art manholes in cast-iron (those of the optical fiber network) will spread for the next six months all over the most creative Milanese neighborhood, the Tortona area. "
Sopra il Sotto – Tombini Art raccontano la Città Cablata" (
Above the Underneath: Art Manholes reveal the Wired-up City) provides art on the street and street art starting from June 11th until the end of November 2009. Celebrating its ten-year activity anniversary,
METROWEB, in charge of the largest European optical fiber network, has planned an event aimed at making the city more appealing, at supporting young contemporary art and especially at reminding the Milanese people a source-of-pride leadership: Milan is the most wired-up city of all Europe.
Selected by the curator Davide Giannella, with Gisella Borioli's art direction, 16 established street artists have freely interpreted the NETWORK theme:
108, 2501, Abbominevole, Bo130, Dem, El Gato Chimney, Faust, Luze, maba, Microbo, Ozmo, Pho, Santy, Sten&Lex, Ufo5.
A great opening event (by invitation only), designed by AreaArt with the collaboration of Silvestrin Associati, is on stage at Superstudio Più, the creative epicenter of the area: exhibition, multi-sensorial installation, light dinner and dance party.
