DESIGN CONQUERES DUBAI

The most important period for contemporary art in
Dubai is coming with the two most vibrating cultural events: the annual Art Dubai and Art Week
Now the calendar is set to expand to include
Design Days Dubai, the
Middle East and
South Asia's first fair dedicated entirely to collectible and limited edition furniture and objects, presents itself as a forward-thinking event, including exhibitions, debates, and workshops by the world's leading designers.
There will be unique pieces of art design with historic names as
Ettore Sottsass,
Gio Ponti,
Ron Arad,
Le Corbusier,
Jo Colombo,
Vito Selma,
Marco Zanuso,
Pierre Cardin, just to mention some of them. Taking place from
18 – 21 March as an integral part of Art Week 2012 at a new, dedicated venue in Downtown Dubai, some of the world's top-tier galleries specialising in 2oth and 21st century design from over 14 countries will appeal for the first time to not only the Arabic public.
Superstudio Group, which has always supported the most interesting and significant new initiatives, has launched a collaboration with Design Days Dubai, sharing its innovative shape and the vision of its director,
Cyril Zammit. "Design is an essential part of the new lifestyles developed in the region. Now that the art market has nicely matured, design is the natural complement to the cultural scene here" declares Zammit who has for this first edition the patronage and support of some of the world's leading names such as designers Humberto e Fernando Campana, award-winning Emirati design entrepreneur Rami Farook, e the Chairman of Vitra Design Museum Alexander von Vegesack.
